Cultural Diversity and News in Australia Symposium
You are cordially invited to participate in the inaugural symposium on “Cultural Diversity and News in Australia” on September 13, 2017, at Deakin Downtown.
The symposium will explore the role of the media in strengthening or weakening social cohesion in Australia. The symposium will include presentation of research related to the media’s coverage of multicultural events and issues; and facilitate a dialogue between various stakeholders such as the media, community leaders, scholars and policy makers to identify strategies to strengthen the role of journalism in building and maintaining multicultural resilience among Australian communities.
The symposium is supported by the Victoria Government’s Social Cohesion Research Grant, Special Broadcasting Service (SBS) and the Ethnic Communities' Council of Victoria (ECCV).
The Cultural Diversity and News in Australia symposium is convened by Dr Usha M. Rodrigues and Professor Yin Paradies, Deakin University. For more information, please visithttp://www.deakin.edu.au/cdnsymposium.
Places are limited, so we encourage all attendees to register for the 'Cultural Diversity and News in Australia Symposium' as early as possible. Research paper abstracts and discussion panel topics are due by July 31, 2017, to r.hutton at deakin.edu.au or on the Deakin symposium site.
