Interesting. I had thought that Jessica's thesis about the land grab sounded a *bit* conspiratorial. This makes it much 
more solid. We shouldn't ever forget that Howard is firmly on the side of the corporations, and that his right wing 
persona (a) demands the appearance of decisiveness, hence the military, and (b) believes that some cultures are just not 
as strong as others, and can disappear under the 'tide of history'. Pearson doesn't support (b) of course, but in the 
defence of his people might feel the need to engage with a bit of the rhetoric of (a).
