As a companion event to the Pig City concert at UQ on July 14, The
Centre for Critical and Cultural Studies at the University of
Queensland is holding a symposium to review and discuss the past,
present and future of the rock music industry in Brisbane. The author
of Pig City, Andrew Stafford, will join other music historians,
journalists, writers and performers to reflect on the early days of
the Brisbane music industry, followed by a panel of contemporary
artists and industry representatives outlining the present and future
of rock music for practitioners and audiences alike. Partly a
celebration of the past, partly a think-tank on possibilities for the
future, this event is designed for those considering a career in rock
music, and anyone interested in the development of Brisbane’s music
industry.
