Inaugural Research Conference 2005– Scholarship and Community

Scholarship and Community, scheduled for 7 - 9 October 2005, is the theme
for the inaugural research conference of the College of Arts, Education, and
Social Sciences at the University of Western Sydney.

Designed to entice broad participation from a variety of fields, Scholarship
and Community will enable participants to engage with the notion of
community and to ask, ‘What is the nexus between research and community?’
Other aims of the conference are to encourage staff-student collegiality,
enrich the postgraduate experience, and enhance the College’s research
impact and profile.

College staff and students from UWS and other universities and research
organisations will have the opportunity to present peer-reviewed papers and
posters at the conference; may elect to have their papers published by the
College in both CD and hardcopy formats.

Inspiring keynote addresses from national and international scholars will be
a highlight of the event, as well as opportunities for social interaction.

Research training workshops for students and other professional workshops
will be included in the conference program.

There will be a cost of $50 for non-UWS participants.

Abstracts should be submitted by close of business 27 June 2005.
