Hi all,

I have a foot in each camp, the academic's and the radio broadcaster's .

I'm the part-time Exec. Producer of 'Arts Alive', an arts and culture current affairs program that's hear on about
fifty-five community and Indigenous stations each week. And yes, we try to bring academic rigor to our reporting, but
we don't always take ourselves toooooo seriously. It takes a lot of time each week and has slowed down the PhD
somewhat.

I've also been a regular contributor to ABC regional radio, but such gigs tend to be the gift of the program's producer
or presenter.

I got my break into radio on Robyn Williams' 'Ocham's Razor', on ABC Radio National Sunday @ 8.45am, and then on
'Careering Arts' on 3CR.

Given the concentration of ownership in the media over the past twenty years and the cash strangulation of the ABC,
community and Indigenous radio is the one medium where a range of voices may still be heard and dissenting opinions
still valued, and ther are more than 150 such stations around.

It doesn't count as part of the research quantum but it is still publication (and publicity). The technical resources
are modest but you do need a 'face for radio' and an ear for audio.
