Children, food and nutrition: Growing well in a changing world.

Since 1980, UNICEF<https://www.unicef.org/> (the United Nation’s children’s agency) has published its annual flagship report, The State of the World’s Children<https://www.unicef.org/reports/state-of-worlds-children-2019> (SoWC), which examines research, policy and practice relating to a key issue affecting the lives of children internationally. Bringing together expert commentary, young people’s voices, case studies, and supporting data and statistics, the SoWC report is an important resource for nation states, NGOs and other organisations with an investment in promoting the rights and wellbeing of children everywhere.

UNICEF’s flagship 2019 report examined the issue of children, food and nutrition, providing a fresh perspective on a rapidly evolving challenge.

As part of this vital research, UNICEF and a research team at the Young and Resilient Research Centre<https://www.westernsydney.edu.au/young-and-resilient>, Western Sydney University, consulted with 573 mothers and 656 adolescents in 18 countries, including Australia, about their experiences of diet and nutrition.

Their views are detailed in two companion reports, providing an in-depth analysis of the insights shared by mothers and adolescents around the world on how diet and nutrition affect their lives, and those of their children.
