Hi all,

Submissions for the Jobs Ready Graduates legislation consultation are due today. The CSAA response is attached, with many thanks to the CSAA Executive, and especially to CSAA Treasurer Holly Randell-Moon.

This letter draws also on the fabulous work done by our friends at CHASS, whose submission can be found here:
https://www.chass.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Response-to-Jobs-Ready-Graduates-draft-legislation-CHASS.pdf

We understand that many would like to respond to these proposed changes, but feel overwhelmed by other demands on their time. Both the CSAA and CHASS are happy for their submissions to be used and tailored to the needs of other individual/organisational responses, if and as helpful.

Information about the proposed legislation and submission process can be found here:

As CSAA Secretary Rob Cover notes, there might also be some value in sending copies of submissions to the three Centre Alliance parliamentarians who were reported in The Age over the weekend to have "serious concerns" about the bill, as well as the Regional Education Minister who, on behalf of the Nationals, was critical of the regional inequalities (which he described as a "glaring and potentially detrimental design flaw").

Here are their addresses:

MP Rebekha Sharkie, Rebekha.Sharkie.MP at aph.gov.au<mailto:Rebekha.Sharkie.MP at aph.gov.au>

Senator Stirling Griff, senator.griff at aph.gov.au<mailto:senator.griff at aph.gov.au>

Senator Rex Patrick, senator.patrick at aph.gov.au<mailto:senator.patrick at aph.gov.au>

MP Andrew Gee, andrew.gee.mp at aph.gov.au<mailto:andrew.gee.mp at aph.gov.au>

With best wishes,
Elizabeth
