[csaa-forum] Joan Neuberger's events at Monash

Film Histories and Cultures Research Program at Monash will be presenting
two events in March: a seminar and a public lecture by Professor Joan
Neuberger, University of Texas, Austin.

Professor Neuberger is an internationally renowned historian and also one
of the pioneers of digital humanities methods. An author and editor of a
large body of work, including, most recently, “This Thing of Darkness:
Eisenstein’s ‘Ivan the Terrible’ in Stalin’s Russia” (Cornell UP, 2019),
Professor Neuberger studies modern Russian culture in social and political
context, with a focus on the politics of the arts.

On the 10th of March Professor Neuberger will run a research seminar which
will demonstrate how digital social network analysis can advance our
understanding of cinema institutions, using early Soviet film industry as
an example.

On the 12ht of March she will deliver a public lecture in which she will
discuss the politics, reception and ethics of Sergei Eisenstein’s late
masterpiece, *Ivan the Terrible*  (1942-1946).
