Dear Colleagues,
As the new academic year gets underway, I wanted to take this opportunity, on behalf of the whole organising team, to thank those of you who were able to attend the 2019 CSAA annual conference at UQ in December. It was very heartening, at the start of a firey summer that was about to get much worse, to hear all those wonderful and engaged papers. We need this vital community of cultural studies researchers now more than ever, as we face what is shaping up to be another very challenging year ahead.
On that note, the CSAA committee is delighted to announce that the 2020 CSAA conference will be held at Edith Cowan University in Perth, from Dec 2-4. Many thanks to the all-star organisation team: Panizza Allmark, Jude Elund, Jess Taylor and James Hall. Further details will be forthcoming in due course, but for now, mark your diaries!
The CSAA committee is also delighted to welcome new members, elected at the 2019 AGM. To our new and revitalised postgrad committee: Nathan Jackson (UNSW), Laura Collier (UWA), Stefania Capogreco (MQ), and Daren Leung. As our new Inclusion and Diversity Co-ordinator, representing Indigenous and PoC members: Elham Golpushnezhad (SAE, Brisbane). Welcome all!
More information about the CSAA 2020 executive committee, including current State Rep vacancies, can be found here:
http://csaa.asn.au/about/executive/
Finally, for those not at last year’s conference, you can renew your CSAA memberships here: http://csaa.asn.au/join-csaa/
Your CSAA membership supports a range of initiatives that benefit our postgraduate and ECR cohort, as well as those in precarious employment, including: the CSAA conference travel bursaries, the CSAA PreFix event, and the small grant scheme. Please help us support the CSAA community by keeping your membership current!
With best wishes,
Elizabeth
