Adjunct Professor Lord David Puttnam will be talking live by video link and
answering your questions on the evening of Monday 2 July 2018

*TALK OVERVIEW: Over the course of two ‘Guest Lectures’ Lord Puttnam will
explore the profound changes occurring in what is now a very broadly based
‘Content Industry’. Several factors lie at the heart of these changes,
among them globalization and corporate consolidation in what has become a
much fought over multi-billion-dollar marketplace. In this first lecture
David Puttnam will address the issues of New Markets and New Technologies.

*BIO:​ ​*Lord David Puttnam has worked in the international film industry
over more than three decades. He has achieved the highest accolades,
including 10 Academy Awards, 25 BAFTA Awards, a Palme d’Or from Cannes, and
10 Golden Globes. His film work includes: *The Mission*, *The Killing
Fields*, *Chariots of Fire*, *Midnight Express*, *Bugsy Malone *and *Local
Hero*.He is a member of the House of Lords where he pursues an active role
in a variety of areas, from educational and environmental issues to digital
skills.

His extensive work in political arenas has brought him into the world of
education. Indeed, he is as well known for his passionate belief in the
moral and educative power of the moving image as he is for his films. He is
a tireless advocate for screen literacy and the serious study of
communication, culture and media.
