Hi all,

Here is information on a symposium I am helping to run on media in Darwin NT this week. I know that most of you are not up here in the NT, but if you happen to have contacts here in the NT please share the information - thank you! It's entirely free and open to the public!

Creative Frontiers in Modern Media: Prospects and Challenges Darwin November 2-3 2017

What is a creative frontier in relation to the myriad forms of modern media?
Is it a conceptual battle-line that can lead to new ideas or is it a formal border that separates and reimagines genre; a shift in technology, culture and society or maybe an avant-garde gesture?

In Creative Frontiers in Modern Media: Prospects and Challenges, a diverse International team of journalists, filmmakers, poets, artists and arts scholars have been invited to imagine what a creative frontier might mean in relation to either their disciplinary research or their creative practice.

Coming together in Darwin NT, they will present their latest research that is designed to provoke and to challenge understandings of art, aesthetics and connections to mass media.

Speakers:

Warwick Mules (University of Queensland, Australia)

Darren Wershler (Concordia University, Canada)

Jane Stadler (University of Queensland, Australia)

Gemma Blackwood (Charles Darwin University, Australia)
