Dear Colleagues,

The 4th Symposium of the WACCM inaugural series - entitled "The Future Academic: Networking, Teaching & Doing Research (Exceptionally) Well" is to be held at Murdoch University South Street campus on Friday, 12 February 2016<http://airmail.calendar/2016-02-12%2012:00:00%20AWST>, 9:30-3pm<http://airmail.calendar/2015-12-17%2009:30:00%20AWST>.

WACCM is the WA Communication, Culture and Media group, set up by the four main WA universities to improve networking and maximise our research environment. WACCM is funded by the Cultural Studies Association of Australasia (CSAA) and the Australia and New Zealand Communication Association (ANZCA).

This event is designed for ALL communication, cultural and media studies academics and aspiring academics, which means that regardless of whether you are a fresh postgraduate student or a senior academic staff, there will be something for you at this event. The day will start with panel members discussing about what the future academic in our disciplinary areas is likely to look like amidst the competing pressures - and pleasures - of teaching, research and networking (incorporating community and institutional services). Our eminent panel members include Professor Krishna Sen (UWA), Emeritus Professor Alec McHoul (Murdoch), Professor Baden Offord (Curtin), Dr Debbie Rodan (ECU) and Dr Kathryn Trees (Murdoch). The panel will be followed by coffee and a forum on the future of WACCM (led by A/Prof Michele Willson and A/Prof Rob Cover). After lunch, participants will get to choose to attend one of two important parallel masterclasses on "Getting Published" and "The Art (and Science) of Supervision" by seasoned presenters E/Prof Alec McHoul and Dr Kathryn Trees respectively.

Please RSVP by 5 February 2016 to WACCMlist at gmail.com<mailto:WACCMlist at gmail.com>. Further queries may be directed to the convenors: Dr Lauren O'Mahony: L.OMahony at murdoch.edu.au<mailto:L.OMahony at murdoch.edu.au> or A/Prof Terence Lee: T.Lee at murdoch.edu.au<mailto:T.Lee at murdoch.edu.au>

Further details can be found in the attached proposed program, with links to transport and parking information.

We look forward to seeing you there.

Best wishes,
Terence Lee, Lauren O'Mahony & Kyra Clarke
