Nostalgia in popular music
Issue n° 11-1 of Volume !, « Souvenirs, Souvenirs », edited by Hugh Dauncey (Senior Lecturer, Newcastle University) and Chris Tinker (Reader, Heriot-Watt University), has just been published. 236 pages, 19 euros, ISBN 978-2-913169-36-4.

We published two studies in 2014, which can be downloaded on our website:

Upcoming
Our next issue will be a “varia” one, and will be published in the Spring.
We will then publish an issue dealing with immigrant chanson in France, following the October 2013 conference which took place at the BNF – « Avec ma gueule de métèque ».
The proceedings of the “Changing the Tune” Strasbourg conference will be published next fall.
Calls for papers
Popular music and video clips
A first call for papers on popular music and video clips, for an issue edited by Marc Kaiser (maître de conférences, Paris 8 University)
Presentation and informations for submission here. Proposals must be sent by March 31st, 2015.
Punk scenes in France
A new call for papers on the French punk scene (1976-2014), for an issue edited by Luc Robène (Professeur des universités, Bordeaux 2 University) and Solveig Serre (chargée de recherche CNRS). Proposals must be sent by April 15th, 2015.
Partnerships: two conferences on punk scenes
« Disorder : Histoire sociale des mouvements punk/post-punk »
Volume ! will have a stand at this conference (Paris 7 University), which will take place on March 27th and 28th, 2015. Information here.
« Keep it simple, make it fast ! » in Porto
Volume ! is a partner of the international conference international « Keep it simple, make it fast! Crossing borders of underground music scenes », that will take place in Porto, from the 15th to the 17th of July 2015. Information here.
Epistrophy, The jazz journal
A new bilingual, peer-reviewed online journal dealing with jazz studies, Epistrophy, just published its first call for papers, “Jazz and modernity”. Proposals should be sent by March 30th, 2015.
Digitization
Vibrations. Musiques, médias, société
The Éditions Mélanie Seteun are in the process of digitizing the first French journal of popular music studies, Vibrations. Musiques, médias, société, which was associated with the IASPM, in the late 1980s. More information here.
“Musique et Société” collection
We are doing the same with our collection of books “Musique et Société”. More on this project soon.
