   - Salary range:  Level D $133,440 - $147,012 p.a.

Sciences spans social and cultural studies in Australia, Europe and Asia.
Media and Communication is one the most dynamic and successful disciplines
providing well-regarded undergraduate and postgraduate courses premised on
a strong relationship between communication theory and practice and an
understanding of practical writing, communication strategy and digital
production skills.

The School of Social Sciences is seeking an experienced and recognised
Media and Communication academic for a senior appointment. For the first
three years of the appointment the candidate is expected to perform the
roles of Head of School and Associate Professor in Media and Communication.

The position offers an exciting opportunity for an innovative and
enthusiastic person with theoretical knowledge of the digital media
environment, media and cultural policy and creative industries who is
committed to teaching, research, leadership in research grant acquisition
and the continued expansion of the discipline's research program.  The
program is particularly interested in applicants with a background in
theorisation of contemporary digital cultures, creative industries, health
communication, strategic communication or media pedagogies.

You would be expected to provide leadership for further development of the
study of Media and Communication and have demonstrated ability to perform
tasks associated with senior academic management including strategic
planning and professional development of staff. All applicants in the
Social Sciences with both expertise relevant to this discipline and to the
role of Head of School will be considered.

Benefits include 17% superannuation, generous leave provisions and airfares
to Perth (if applicable) for appointee and dependents along with a removal
allowance. These and other benefits will be specified in the offer of
employment.
