The Australia Prizes are a significant initiative and seek to showcase work in the Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities- a terrific thing to do in the current climate.

The Council for the Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (CHASS)<http://iceblast.icemedia.com.au/ch/38433/18vkn/1605878/d4c9270jh.html> is inviting nominations for four categories of the 2014 CHASS Australia Prizes.

The CHASS Australia Prizes<http://iceblast.icemedia.com.au/ch/38433/18vkn/1737672/d4c924tsb.html> will be presented at the 2014 CHASS Australia Prizes Dinner at Queen's Hall, Parliament House, Melbourne on Wednesday, 8 October 2014.

Nominations close on 30 June 2014.

* There is no nomination fee for any category;
* Self-nominations are acceptable;
* Nominees must be Australian citizens or permanent residents;
* All works must be in English;
* Five copies of the application form along with the supporting documentation are required for judging;
* Application materials will not be returned to applicants;
* Incomplete applications will not be considered.

CHASS Australia Prize for a Book in the Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences

Cash Prize of $3,500
This Prize will be awarded to the author whose book, in the opinion of the judges, contributes most to Australian cultural and intellectual life. Books and e-books published between the dates of 1 July 2012 and 31 December 2013 will be considered for the Prize. Self-published books or e-books will be considered if the author can provide evidence that the book has been peer-reviewed. A single author can submit up to four books.

This Prize is being sponsored by Routledge, the world's leading academic publisher in the Humanities and Social Sciences.






CHASS Australia Prize for Distinctive Work in the Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences

Cash Prize of $3,500
This prize is for a performance, exhibition, project or a specific advance in policy development in any HASS field. Performances or exhibitions must have been open to the public between 1 July 2012 and 31 December 2013. Policy work must have been completed during the same period. Nominees should provide sufficient evidence to allow judges to assess the impact of the performance, exhibition, project or policy. The nature of this evidence is up to the nominator (for e.g.: critical reviews, impact assessments, spin-offs, new policies).

This Prize is being sponsored by Routledge, the world's leading academic publisher in the Humanities and Social Sciences.






 CHASS Australia Prize for a Future Leader in the Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences

Cash Prize of $2,000
This prize will be awarded for a future leader in any aspect of the Humanities, Arts or Social Sciences. Nominees must not have reached 35 years of age before 31 December 2013. Sufficient evidence to allow judges to assess leadership must be provided. The nature of this evidence is up to the nominator, and should include clear evidence of leadership.

This Prize is being sponsored by Future Leaders, a philanthropic initiative about leadership and our future. It seeks to involve, inform and inspire.






 CHASS Australia Prize for a Student in the Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences

The Co-Op Bookshop Voucher worth $500
This prize is for a student project, performance, exhibition or thesis that best exemplifies the contribution of HASS areas to our understanding of ourselves and our nation. The nominated work must have been completed between 1 July 2012 and 31 December 2013. Students enrolled at any level in any Australian tertiary education institution are eligible to be nominated. Sufficient evidence to allow judges to make their assessments should be provided. The nature of this evidence is up to the nominator (for e.g.: critical reviews, impact assessments, spin-offs, new policies). The application must be accompanied with a copy of a valid student ID.

This Prize is being sponsored by The Co-op, Australia's leading retailer of books, specialising in educational and professional textbooks.

Theme: Investing in Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences for Public Good

All you need to do is send us your interpretation inspired by the theme and you could score yourself a free pass to attend the 2014 CHASS National Forum. Entries from students from any Australian tertiary education institution will be accepted. Entries close on 31 July 2014.
