*CALL FOR PAPERS*

2013 ASPERA Conference. The 10th Annual Conference of the Australian Screen
Production Education & Research Association (ASPERA), Melbourne, *8th-10th
July 2013*.

Jointly presented by Swinburne University’s School of Film and Television,
Deakin University’s School of Communication and Creative Arts & RMIT
University’s School of Media and Communication.

The ASPERA conference is an annual opportunity for academics, filmmakers
and postgraduate students to present and discuss their ideas, projects,
teaching & research as they relate to the field of contemporary screen
production.

The conference convenors invite papers, panels and topics for roundtable
discussion, interactive workshops and poster presentations that address the
following theme (with other ideas also being considered):

“Back to the Future: re-framing new & old screen production practices”

It is now well over a decade since the digital era began its radical
transformation of the media industries. As online content proliferates, the
social and participatory nature of Web 2.0 expands the way in which
‘content producers’ access support, reach audiences & distribute content.
Wholesale disruption to modes of production is now broadly accepted ... or
is it? While it is easy to be seduced by the discourse of change, our
disciplines are uniquely positioned within educational, professional and
cultural contexts to navigate the digital domain and to explore, exemplify
and support innovative practice within it. This year’s conference provides
an opportunity to reflect on the impact of the digital era on our teaching
and research, the many new possibilities and challenges it offers but also
the continuing relevance of established modes of creative screen
production.

Topics you may wish to address include:

   -

   New distribution practices
    -

Teaching screen production within the digital classroom &
   e-learning/online learning environments
    -

The changing nature of the professional/non-professional
    -

Social media as a production platform
    -

   Participatory content production
    -

   Access & development
    -

   Digital activism & advocacy
    -

   Transmedia storytelling
    -

   Emerging funding models
    -

   Digital workflows
    -

   Mobile screens
