*NAVIGATING CULTURAL THEORY, PRACTICE AND POLICY*

Masterclass with Associate Professor Eleonora Belfiore of the Centre for
Cultural Policy Studies, University of Warwick

Presented by the Culture and Communities Research Network and the Centre
for Cultural Partnerships, Faculty of VCA & MCM, University of Melbourne

*Call for participants:*

The Centre for Cultural Partnerships and the Culture and Communities
Research Network is seeking applications from PhD students and early career
researchers to participate in a masterclass with Associate Professor
Eleonora Belfior<http://www2.warwick.ac.uk/fac/arts/theatre_s/cp/staff/belfiore/>e.
Selection of participants is competitive and will be limited to 15 emerging
scholars whose research engages with the themes of “Navigating cultural
theory, practice and policy”

* Theme:*

In an increasingly globalised and networked world, dominated by market
interests and instrumental rationality, what is the role of cultural
research? How can researchers engage in critical dialogue while also
producing relevant work that responds to contemporary issues? This
masterclass explores emerging themes in the field of cultural research by
bringing together the next generation of thinkers on issues of cultural
value, policymaking and the role of arts and humanities in contemporary
society.

*Cost: *

The masterclass is free of charge to successful applicants, including
afternoon tea. Participants will also be invited to a post-workshop
networking reception as part of the Making Culture Count conference.

*How to apply: *

Applications are due by Friday 16th March 2012. In less than 500 words (one
page), provide the following information.

 · Name and short biography

 · Institutional affiliation, phone number and email contact

 · What is your current research topic or interest(s)?

 · What is the broader application of your research? Who are your
stakeholders or audience?

 · What is one particular research issue or problem you would like to
discuss?

 · How will you benefit from participating in this masterclass?

Successful applicants will be notified by Monday 26th March 2012, and will
have their submissions circulated with other participants.
