Ref 270/11 Lecturer in Cultural & Social Analysis, School of Humanities and Languages

The School of Humanities and Languages brings together scholars with interdisciplinary research interests in the following fields: anthropology, Asian studies, cultural studies, history, international relations, linguistics and modern languages, literature and literary studies, media and visual studies, philosophy, political and social theory, religious studies. Their research intersects with the focal areas of a range of Research Centres within the College of Arts: the Centre for Cultural Research, Centre for Citizenship and Public Policy, Centre for the Study of Contemporary Muslim Societies, MARCS Auditory Laboratories, and the Writing and Society Research Group.

Applications are invited for the continuing position of Level B Lecturer from scholars with teaching and research strengths in cultural and social analysis. The position will teach into the Cultural and Social Analysis major, which provides a grounding in contemporary debates and methodologies in cultural studies and social theory, and draws on various disciplines including history, sociology, communications, and linguistics. The successful applicant will have a PhD and a demonstrable record of excellent teaching and high level international publications in an area relevant to one or more of the following: ethnicities, gender, multiculturalism, social science research methods (qualitative and quantitative), and urban studies.

The School operates in a multi-campus environment and the successful applicant is expected to teach on all campuses on which the School operates in face-to-face teaching delivery and/or through blended learning technologies. This position will be located at the Penrith campus.

Remuneration Package from 13 May 2011: Lecturer (Academic Level B) $96,915 to $114,361 p.a.; (comprising Salary of $81,894 to $96,703 p.a.; 17% Superannuation, and Leave Loading).
