        Queer 50s brings together scholars, artists and activists working on different national and cultural contexts as well as writers and activists who have turned to the 1950s to write new histories of sexuality. The two-day event will include lectures, papers, round table discussion and postgraduate posters as well as a series of creative events.

        

        Confirmed contributions include keynotes by Jennifer Evans and Alison Oram, plus papers by Andrew Asibong, Justin Bengry, Chris Brickell, Gavin Butt, Richard Hornsey, Matt Houlbrook, Jonathan D. MacIntosh, Ankhi Mukherjee, Kaye Mitchell, Elizabeth Stephens, Antu Sorainen.
        Round table discussants: Lucy Bland, Daniel Monk, Lynne Segal & Alan Sinfield.
        
        Special events:
        ·         Film screening of Victim and discussion led by Andy Medhurst
        ·         A lunchtime exhibition by the Lesbian & Gay Newspaper Archive (LAGNA)
        ·         A gallery talk by Liz Mathews and Frances Bingham on the art and the poetry of Valentine Ackland
        ·         A reading by Elizabeth Wilson, and
        ·         An evening performance by Lois Weaver
