Dear ACS members and friends of cultural studies,

The ACS Newsletter Cultural Currents has a deadline for its next (6th)
issue on Monday 1 October.

You who are members can normally access the previous issues at the
Intranet section of the ACS website, but since this section is presently
under reconstruction, this regrettably cannot be done until later this
month.

The newsletter is open for both fact and fiction, reports and
announcements, visions and debates, texts and images.

Please start sending material now for that issue to me and/or my
co-editor: sanna.harakkamaki at uta.fi

We welcome contributions of all possible kinds, reflecting what happens
globally in cultural studies or in a specific region or subfield,
informing about problems and threats but also about forthcoming events,
including associations and networks, conferences and workshops, courses
and programs, centres and departments, research projects, books and
journals, grants and job opportunities.

This time we particularly call for reviews of publications and reports
from conferences, since there is an interest in not only getting
information on forthcoming events, but also knowing how people
experience and evaluate what happens.

We would also love to get from as many as possible brief replies to
either one (or all) of the following questions:

	- What has in your opinion been the most essential or promising
event (publication, conference or whatever) of cultural studies in 2006
and 2007?

	- What do you think is the most important trend for the future
direction of cultural studies?

	- Which issue or area is most neglected and in need of our
attention in cultural studies now?

Looking forward to your voice in the polyphony of Cultural Currents!

The Editors:
