Deep Focus - Film Quarterly is a collective effort by a group of  
cineastes from Bangalore Film Society with an advisory body of  
eminent persons in the field in India. Deep Focus is also rooted in  
the work of CIEDS - a collective that has grown around a vision which  
has always sought the deeper connections and continuities in  
politics, in art and culture.

Deep Focus is a film journal for people who recognize cinema as the  
most potent medium of expression to emerge in our times, people who  
acknowledge the intellectual validity and importance of film  
aesthetics, film as art and entertainment. Deep Focus attempts to  
understand cinema as a weave between aesthetics and politics of culture.

Deep Focus film journal through it essays on cinema explores the  
aesthetics and cultural politics and how it impacts and shapes the  
contemporary cultural practices, politics and social behaviour. It  
features regularly articles on the socio-cultural and political  
significance of documentary, art and popular cinema, film reviews,  
book reviews interviews with film personalities, which connects its  
readers with cultural histories, ideas, desires and utopias, the  
subliminal forces which drives us, and shapes our visions, thoughts,  
opinions and lifestyles. Through the pages of Deep Focus, we empower  
its readers to understand and interpret cinematic images in the  
larger socio-cultural context. The divergent thrust of Deep Focus  
positions it in a unique niche, a niche occupied by no other Indian  
Film Journal. Deep Focus also takes care to ensure that what is  
published has lasting relevance. Deep Focus is one of the most sought  
after journal at the international film festivals conducted in India.
