Dear colleagues,
Some may recall that I gave a paper at the CSAA conference in
Christchurch on the shift in the Nigerian scam letters from appeals
to
unabashed avarice to a more subtle appeal to assist in righting
wrongs,
in particular Western colonialist wrongs. More recently the shift has
been back to avarice.
I've just received a scam e-mail that might be a totally new genre.
It asks me to assist to launder unexpended funds from a medical
research project because the academics have given their life to
public-spirited teaching and research, and now approach retirement
without prospect of a pension.
I would be grateful to know if anyone has received similar appeals?
If
so, how recently and, if you still have them, could you forward and
example for my collection.
Best wishes,
