Toby Miller is a leading international scholar in Cultural Studies. He
is Professor of English, Sociology, and Women's Studies at the
University of California, Riverside, which he joined in 2004 from the
Tisch School of the Arts, New York University. His many books include:
Cultural Policy Studies: A Reader (with Justin Lewis, 2003); Cultural
Policy (with George Yudice); Global Hollywood (with Nitin Govil, John
McMurria, and Richard Maxwell, 2001); Sportsex (2001); Globalization and
Sport: Playing with the World (with Geoffrey Lawrence, Jim McKay, and
David Rowe, 2001); Popular Culture and Everyday Life (with Alex McHoul,
1998); Technologies of Truth: Cultural Citizenship and the Popular Media
(1998); and The Well-Tempered Self: Citizenship, Culture and the
Postmodern Subject (1993). He is also Editor of Television & New Media
and Co-Editor of Social Identities.
Professor Miller is based in Brisbane during April-May 2006 as a
Queensland Government Smart Returns Fellow and a QUT Vice-Chancellor's
Distinguished Visitor. The Fellowship is supported by the Queensland
University of Technology (for a schedule of his other presentations,

The seminar at Parramatta is Toby's only engagement in New South Wales
during this visit!
