Limited Term, Semester One 2006


The School of English and Media Studies invites applications for two limited term positions in Media Studies for tenure during semester one, 2006.

The first of these positions will be located at Palmerston North and will take responsibility for teaching a second year paper in Television Studies.  This paper (154.201) involves an examination of the nature and role of television within contemporary culture and will be taught in both internal and extramural (teaching at a distance) modes.  Established study materials are available for use by the appointee.  In addition this position will assist with teaching Introduction to Media Studies (154.101) on the Palmerston North campus.

The second position will be located on the University's Wellington campus.  This position will be responsible for teaching Introduction to Media Studies (154.101) on the Wellington campus, as well as assisting with the School's extramural programme (teaching at a distance) in this and other taught papers.  There will be opportunity for travelling to the Palmerston North campus and engaging in discussions with the course coordinators as well as other staff.

The successful applicants will be employed from February until June (inclusive) and will have appropriate qualifications in Media Studies, preferably a PhD either completed or near completion at the time of application.  University teaching and/or research experience will be an advantage.
