Dear all,

I have another research assistant opportunity available - this time in
Griffith (regional NSW).

Short Term Research Assistant Needed - to work in Griffith NSW

The Centre for Research on Social Inclusion is seeking to appoint a research
assistant based in GRIFFITH NSW (or in the local region) to work on a
project 'Building Neighbourhood Harmony: Strategies for Local Government'
which is funded by the federal government's Living in Harmony initiative.
The project is focused on exploring the quality of everyday interethnic
relations among residents of Griffith (NSW). The aim of the project is to
develop ways to improve neighbourhood level relations between longer-term
residents of Griffith and newer migrant communities.

The successful candidate will have at least a degree in Arts or Social
Sciences and preferably experience in qualitative research methods such as
open-ended interviewing. Enrolment in or completion of a research degree an
advantage. The position will involve conducting open ended interviews with
local residents from a range of cultural backgrounds about their local
experiences and perceptions of cultural difference and multiculturalism.

The successful candidate will begin work at the beginning of November. The
position is for 14 hours per week over a period of 10 weeks. There is some
flexibility in how those hours are spread out over next three months. The
position will be paid at approximately $30 per hour.

More information on the project is available at: www.crsi.mq.edu.au
<http://www.crsi.mq.edu.au/> under 'Living in Harmony' project.

Enquiries can be directed to Dr Amanda Wise by email. Applicants should
forward a CV with a covering letter stating how they meet the criteria
outlined above, by Friday 28th October 2005. Applicant may be appointed
sooner than that date so early applications are encouraged. Applications
should be emailed to: amanda.wise at scmp.mq.edu.au.

Dr Wise will be visiting Griffith on 3rd & 4th November and would like to
make an appointment by that date.
