The English Department at the University of Adelaide invites postgraduates
in English and related disciplines to a seminar day at the university on 7
July 2005, the day after the ASAL conference on 'Writing Across Cultures'.

The event, named read: exchange, is a day of seminars on critical theory,
designed to be tied thematically to the ASAL event, with a focus on
'Narrative & Memory' and 'Cultural Borrowings'. We extend a warm invitation
to postgrads from South Australia and interstate, especially those in
Adelaide for the ASAL conference. The cost of the day is $27.50, which
includes lunch, morning and afternoon tea.

You can find out more information, and download a registration form, at
http://www.arts.adelaide.edu.au/humanities/english/read_exchange.html.
Amanda Nettelbeck and Ken Ruthven have kindly agreed to chair the two
sessions
- Amanda will be chairing the morning session on Narrative & Memory, while
Ken will chair the afternoon session on Cultural Borrowings. Regardless of
your particular area of specialisation, this is an opportunity to learn more
about two key areas of contemporary critical theory, meet other
postgraduates from around the country, and share your ideas and questions in
an informal setting.

Best wishes,
