ECU ARC-Discovery SCHOLARSHIP 

EDITH COWAN UNIVERSITY, PERTH

ARC Scholarship: 

The Mass Media and Muslim/Non-Muslim Australians. 

Edith Cowan University seeks a PhD candidate to research responses of Muslim Australians and non-Muslim Australians to news stories circulating in the mass media. The research will involve qualitative in-depth interviewing in Western Australia and parallel telephone interviews Australia-wide. Interpreters will sometimes be required. 

Funded by an ARC Discovery Grant, this scholarship has an annual tax-free stipend of $24,148 and is available for three years of full-time study together with relocation allowances. Applicants should demonstrate their capacity to develop strong links with both Muslim Australian and non-Muslim Australian communities and should possess a research Masters degree or a First or Upper Second Class Honours degree in Communications, Media or Cultural Studies or a related social science discipline. (In exceptional circumstances a Bachelors' graduate might be accepted for a two years Master's degree scholarship.)
