A PhD research scholarship is available at Macquarie University in the
Department of Human Geography for a project that will investigate
processes of community formation in Sydney. Using qualitative research,
the scholarship holder will examine how people and families relate to
each other within neighbourhoods. It is expected that the project will
provide a new geographic understanding of family communities that will
aid urban planning.
 
Applicants should have completed a four year undergraduate degree in a
relevant discipline (Geography, Sociology, Urban Studies, Cultural
Studies) with first class honours, or an equivalent qualification.
 
The successful applicant if an Australian citizen/permanent resident, or
a New Zealand citizen, would receive a RAACE award; other International
applicants would receive an iMURS award. The stipend for the award is
currently $18,837 per annum, tax exempt, and the tenure is 3 years full
time subject to satisfactory progress.
