Culture, Theory and Critique, I would like to provide an update on our journal’s operations during this difficult time. We recognise that many authors and reviewers will have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic in different ways and may thus not be
able to meet deadlines or to carry out tasks that seemed entirely feasible but a few weeks ago at all. Please know that we understand entirely and reach out if ever you wish to discuss how we can work together for a positive result – and please forgive any

While progressing the work of the journal has become more challenging, we have decided not to pause all of our operations, knowing that for many colleagues it will remain important for publications
to appear in as timely a fashion as possible; this may be especially so for colleagues seeking employment or in tenure track positions. In addition, we believe that work such as that published in the journal has an important role to play in helping people
to think through the world they live in, both generally and in relation to the particular constellation of questions that have come to the fore during this pandemic.

For this reason, as well as trying to maintain our normal operations as far as possible, we are here issuing a call for papers that address questions related to the COVID-19 pandemic. In an attempt
to ensure that papers in this series appeal to and are accessible to as broad an audience as possible as quickly as possible, we are: calling for papers that are shorter than the journal’s standard article-length; working on a fast-track refereeing process,
and; negotiating with our publisher, Taylor & Francis, to make the online version of any paper published in this series open access for a limited time. (Note that while Taylor & Francis have announced a pause on the print publication of journals, there is
currently no interruption to their online operations.) Please note that while we are keen to receive submissions that appeal to a broad audience, papers submitted MUST fall within the journal’s normal aims and scope. The call for papers follows. We look forward

for this series should address ways in which the current COVID-19 pandemic requires us to reconceptualise extant theoretical frameworks or, conversely, how these frameworks might enable us to reconfigure the viral logics that have come to dominate many different
forms of culture. The critical interventions called for should then seek, metaphorically, to bring about cytopathic effects in the bodies of knowledge that are, or should be, operational in the current environment.

papers in this series. Once accepted and through the refereeing and production process, papers will be made immediately available online; we are currently negotiating for these papers to be open access but cannot confirm this as yet. Papers will appear in
