at The University of Adelaide and the History Trust of South Australia (Migration
Museum) are seeking two quality PhD candidates to develop studies related to the
ARC Linkage Project LGBTQ Migrations: Life Story Narratives in the South
Australian GLAM Sector.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0cm 0cm 0.0001pt;font-size:11pt;font-family:Arial,sans-serif"> </p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0cm 0cm 0.0001pt;font-size:11pt;font-family:Arial,sans-serif">The students will
undertake a project, developed in collaboration with the investigators, primarily
around the question of the ways in which museums might engage with gender and sexuality,
in the promotion of diversity and social justice. </p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0cm 0cm 0.0001pt;font-size:11pt;font-family:Arial,sans-serif"> </p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0cm 0cm 0.0001pt;font-size:11pt;font-family:Arial,sans-serif">Relevant objectives
of this project may include:</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0cm 0cm 0.0001pt;font-size:11pt;font-family:Arial,sans-serif"> </p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0cm 0cm 0.0001pt;font-size:11pt;font-family:Arial,sans-serif"><b>(1)</b> Understanding
key factors of internal migration specific to gender and sexual minorities, including
place of origin, reason for migration, type of migration (e.g., related to
work, family, caring responsibilities, emotional, sexual and affective
attachments and liaisons, health and the search for more tolerant environments
and neighbourhoods), and expectations related to South Australia’s early
reputation for inclusion of non-heterosexual persons; and</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0cm 0cm 0.0001pt;font-size:11pt;font-family:Arial,sans-serif"> </p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0cm 0cm 0.0001pt;font-size:11pt;font-family:Arial,sans-serif"><b>(2) </b>Developing
frameworks for the collection and preservation of personal stories, memories and
materials related to migration, mobility and movement that will benefit public
knowledge and repositories of South Australia’s history.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0cm 0cm 0.0001pt;font-size:11pt;font-family:Arial,sans-serif"> </p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0cm 0cm 0.0001pt;font-size:11pt;font-family:Arial,sans-serif">The students will
be involved in research, data collection and analysis, interviews, the conduct
of focus groups, report writing, publication and curatorial work, including the
production of a major exhibition.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0cm 0cm 0.0001pt;font-size:11pt;font-family:Arial,sans-serif">The students will
receive invaluable research training in a humanities and social sciences project
related to gender and sexual diversity and will be partially embedded at the
Migration Museum receiving valuable industry experience relevant to career
interests and enhancing the project’s capabilities to ensure strong impact and
engagement activities for the sector. Students will be supervised by the <b><i>project
investigators, including Rosslyn Prosser (Adelaide), Nikki Sullivan (Migration
Museum), Rob Cover (RMIT University).</i></b></p>

have first-class honours or equivalent in a relevant area. Applicants must be
citizens or permanent residents of Australia, or citizens of New Zealand.</p>
