<p>Applications are invited for a full-time, ongoing Lectureship or Senior Lectureship (US equivalent Assistant/Associate Professor) in the Media Studies programme of the School of English and Media Studies at Massey University. This position is based at the
Wellington campus in Wellington, New Zealand. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p>The School of English and Media Studies has a strong record in teaching excellence and pastoral care in an interactive learning environment. Courses are taught in internal (on-campus) and distance learning modes, at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
The School currently offers programmes in English, Media Studies, Creative Writing, Expressive Arts, Public and Professional Writing, and Theatre Studies.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p>We are looking for a candidate with research and teaching strengths in relation to digital media from the perspective of either textual or social/cultural approaches. All applications will be carefully considered, but we particularly encourage applicants
with additional specialisations in one or more of the following areas: transmedia narrative, video game studies, digital and online cultures, emergent media forms and practices, fan studies. We particularly encourage applicants with experience in teaching
large introductory classes in both general media studies and media storytelling. The successful candidate must be able to teach into, and contribute to the ongoing development of, the compulsory courses 154.101 Introduction to Media Studies and 154.120 Transmedia
Narrative. The successful candidate should also be comfortable teaching students across a range of pedagogical contexts, including vocational and creative practice, as well as traditional humanities and social sciences backgrounds.

<p>Media Studies is offered as a major in both the Bachelor Arts and Bachelor of Communication. The undergraduate programme in both degrees currently includes courses across three major areas of specialisation: digital media production, social/cultural approaches
to media, and medium-specific approaches/methodologies, including screen studies. The graduate programme is available in the Master of Arts and Master of Communication, and offers a selection of courses in the above areas. Candidates are encouraged to view

<p>The successful applicant will have a PhD either completed or very near to completion at the time of application. Experience of University-level teaching and academic publication or other evidence of ongoing research activity is essential.<br>
The level of appointment will depend on qualifications and experience. It is anticipated that the selected candidate will take up the appointment in May 2019.
