share their professional experiences, insights and visions for transformation. </div>

The evening's discussion at the NGV International will be framed by <b>Dr. Amanda Coles</b> of the School of Culture and Communication at the University of Melbourne, author of the 2016 industry report, <i>What's wrong with this picture?</i> for the Canadian

<div style="font-family: Calibri; font-size: 16px;"><b>FERNE DOWNEY</b> is the National President of the Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists (ACTRA) and the President of the </div>
<div style="font-family: Calibri; font-size: 16px;">International Federation of Actors (FIA). ACTRA represents over 23,000 professional performers in the English-language recorded media in Canada. As FIA President since 2012, Ferne is the first North American
to head the global organization. Ferne is a graduate of Dalhousie University's Theatre Department and Harvard's Trade Union leadership program. She has spent the past 35 years working as an actor in radio, television, film and theatre and is also a member
of Canadian Actors' Equity Association. Since 2011, Ferne has served as a General Vice-President on the Executive of the Canadian Labour Congress.</div>

<div style="font-family: Calibri; font-size: 16px;"><b>ANA KOKKINOS </b>is an acclaimed writer/director, whose career spans film and TV. Her films, which include BLESSED, THE BOOK OF REVELATION and HEAD ON, have won over 30 international and national awards
and premiered at Director’s Fortnight in Cannes, Toronto, Venice and San Sebastian. In 2010, Ana was honoured at the Seattle International Film Festival as an Emerging Master filmmaker. She has directed numerous episodes of TV including THE SECRET LIFE OF
US, MASSACRE AT MYALL CREEK and has just completed work on SEVEN TYPES OF AMBIGUITY for Matchbox Pictures.<b> </b>Ana served on the Board of Film Victoria for 9 years. Kokkinos has also taught extensively at the Australian Film, Television and Radio School
in Sydney. She conducts ongoing masterclasses for professional actors and in 2016 was a Lecturer in the School of Culture and Communication at Melbourne University.</div>

<div style="font-family: Calibri; font-size: 16px;"><b>JAMES HEWISON</b> is currently the Head of Film Programs at the Australian Centre For The Moving Image.From freelance writing for publications such as the French newspaper <i>Liberation</i>, to marketing
roles at Australian Broadcasting Corporation and Palace Cinemas, the early years of James’ career were spent in journalism and film. These diverse experiences consolidated James’ knowledge of the media and film industries, enabling him to take on the role
of Executive Director of the Melbourne International Film Festival in 2001, where he remained for six years, before moving to the Australian Film Institute in 2006 as CEO. From 2007 to 2011, he was Theatrical Distribution Manager for Madman Entertainment.
During his time at Madman, James managed the releases of multi-award winning Australian features such as <i>Animal Kingdom</i> and <i>Snowtown</i>. In addition to James’ extensive experience in film distribution and marketing, he has worked in production,
most notably as the Associate Producer on Clara Law’s <i>Letters To Ali</i>, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival 2004. He is currently collaborating with filmmakers Amiel Courtin- Wilson and LA based Rick Charnoski, on the low budget US feature <i>Warm
Blood.</i> James consulted for 5 years across development, acquisition, curation and distribution for a range of international clients, from Canal+ to Hobart’s iconic Museum of Old and New Art (MONA). He also was Head of Development and Acquisitions for the
award-winning production and distribution company, Curious. </div>

<div style="font-family: Calibri; font-size: 16px;"><b>AMANDA COLES</b> is the Program Coordinator for the Master of Arts and Cultural Management program at the University of Melbourne, a Co-Researcher with the Interuniversity Research Centre on Globalization
and Work (CRIMT) in Montreal, Canada, and an Affiliate Researcher with the Centre for People, Organisation and Work (CPOW) at RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia. Amanda’s industry-engaged research examines a range of labour market and policy issues for
the screen-based industries, most recently for the Canadian Unions for Equality on screen. Amanda’s research interests are informed by her professional history as a production coordinator in the film and television production industry in Toronto, Canada. Scholarly
publications appear in leading international journals and edited volumes on work, regulation and politics and policy in Canada and Australia.</div>
