<p class="MsoNormal">Please find attached information regarding an upcoming symposium, co-hosted by Alfred Deakin Institute for Citizenship and Globalisation (Deakin University) and the Institute for Culture and Society (University of Western Sydney). The symposium
will comprise two days with a specific, though interconnected, focus:<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"> <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><b>Day one (Mon 14<sup>th</sup> Dec, 2015): <i>Islamic Religiosity, Active Citizenship and Belonging</i></b> will invite papers which address "the Muslim question" in pubIic policy debates, paying attention to the specific role of Islamic
religiosity to performances of citizenship and belonging.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"> <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><b>Day two (Tue 15<sup>th</sup> Dec, 2015): <i>Cronulla Riots 10 Years On</i></b> will mark the 10 year anniversary of the Cronulla riots by reflecting on just how significant the Cronulla Riots were, then and now, and whether -in a world
preoccupied with the War on Terror- they remain a useful reference point for discussions of intercultural relations and multiculturalism in Australia. Abstracts will be invited that address this topic.
