This project is a study of <span style="background-color:rgb(255,255,204)"><span class="" style="background-image:initial;background-repeat:initial">cinema</span></span> as a medium of <span style="background-color:rgb(255,255,204)"><span class="" style="background-image:initial;background-repeat:initial">ethical</span></span> experience and critical reflection. It brings together <span style="background-color:rgb(255,255,204)">philosophy</span>, film theory, aesthetics, and <span style="background-color:rgb(255,255,204)"><span class="" style="background-image:initial;background-repeat:initial">ethical</span></span> theory, to understand how film can evoke <span style="background-color:rgb(255,255,204)"><span class="" style="background-image:initial;background-repeat:initial">ethical</span></span> experience through images and narrative. Although recent work in <span style="background-color:rgb(255,255,204)">philosophy</span> of film has begun exploring the question of <span style="background-color:rgb(255,255,204)"><span class="" style="background-image:initial;background-repeat:initial">ethics</span></span>, there is comparatively little theoretical reflection on what this means: how do movies evoke and express <span style="background-color:rgb(255,255,204)"><span class="" style="background-image:initial;background-repeat:initial">ethical</span></span> ideas? How can they reveal the complexities of a <span style="background-color:rgb(255,255,204)">moral</span> or political situation? What role does our emotional involvement play in this process? Can the aesthetic elements of film be <span style="background-color:rgb(255,255,204)"><span class="" style="background-image:initial;background-repeat:initial">ethically</span></span> significant?
