<p class="MsoNormal" style="font-size: 12pt; text-align: justify;"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-family:Tahoma">This seminar maps the formal relationships between poetry and poetics in modernism and the experience of labor during the first decades of the twentieth
century.</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="font-size: 12pt; text-align: justify;"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-family:Tahoma">Kristin Grogan will discuss poetic genre as articulated by capitalist labor relations. Mark Steven will account for the impact of communism on multiple
poems, as mediated by poetry’s complicated affiliation with labor as variable capital.</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="font-size: 12pt; text-align: justify;"><b><span lang="EN-US" style="font-family:Tahoma">Kristin Grogan</span></b><span lang="EN-US" style="font-family:Tahoma"> is a graduate student at the University of New South Wales. Her thesis
is on modernist poetry and poetics with a particular focus on Ezra Pound, Objectivism, and experimental lyric poetry.</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="font-size: 12pt; text-align: justify;"><b style="font-size:12pt"><span lang="EN-US">Mark Steven</span></b><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size:12pt"> is a graduate student at the University of New South Wales. His thesis is titled
‘Red Modernism: Poetry, Communism, and the Anglo-American Avant-Garde’. He has published on literature, film, and philosophy.</span></p>
