<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="FONT-FAMILY: 'Georgia','serif'; COLOR: black">For this year's Australian Consortium of Humanities Research Centres<a></a> (ACHRC) annual meeting, we have organised<a></a> a half-day pre-meeting workshop for Humanities postgraduate
students and early career researchers in which they learn so-called survival skills and strategize their career paths. This workshop resulted from the informal afternoon coffee meeting at last year's ACHRC meeting in Sydney with a group of Early Career Researchers.

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="FONT-FAMILY: 'Georgia','serif'; COLOR: black">For students: This workshop will also provide postgraduate students and post-docs with what they need to know to make themselves competitive for the job market. This is important,
as positions in our respective fields are generally limited, applicants for jobs plenty, and newly graduated PhDs or recent post docs applying for academic jobs all too often have not worked on their track record in the right way --usually because they were
not aware of expectations -- and then find themselves having no chance of getting an academic position.</span></p>
