          thus an apt location for a special issue on the cultural
          politics surrounding
          the use of a highly contested body of knowledge - queer theory
          in educational

          cycles of thinking
          about the place of queer theory in education research. We aim
          to encourage
          dialogue about (a) the objects and subjects of queer research
          (b) forms of
          politics incited by the use of queer theory in education, and
          (c) the
          methodological approaches used by scholars when queer(y)ing. </span><span

          from those who find queer theory
          problematic, and/or past its use by date, as well as by those
          who continue to
          see a productive place for queer research in education,
          however that may be
          defined. We seek contributions about the sorts of boundaries
          that are placed
          around queer research in education by researchers themselves,
          and by peers,
          ethics committees, funding bodies and university and
          government bureaucracies. </span><span style="font-family:

          how researchers identified with
          education and queer theory experience and navigate this space
          in the academy,
          and, papers on how the current academic climate shapes queer
          research in education.
          What are the contemporary cultural politics of doing queer
          theoretical work in
          different education spaces and places? Is queer theory an
          important cultural
          site in education research? Or, is queer theory in education
          irretrievably</span><span style="font-family: &quot;Times New
          Roman&quot;;" lang="EN-US"> occidentalist and racist? </span><span
          style="font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;;" lang="EN-GB">In
short,
          we welcome explorations that might disrupt what we think we
          already know
          about the &#8216;place&#8217; of queer theory in education.</span><span
