<p class="s7" style="margin-top:0px; margin-bottom:8px"><span class="s13">Join us in celebrating the launch of Dr Tom Clarkâs latest book </span><span class="s15" style="font-style:italic">Stay on Message: Poetry and Truthfulness in Political Speech</span><span class="s16"> (Australian
Scholarly Publishing)</span><span class="s13">. The book will be launched by Lindsay Tanner, formerly federal Minister for Finance.</span></p>
<p class="s7" style="margin-top:0px; margin-bottom:8px"><span class="s13">In addition to his political career, Tanner has been the author of many books, including most recently his analysis of political communication and disengagement in Australia, </span><span class="s15" style="font-style:italic">Sideshow:
Dumbing Down Democracy</span><span class="s13">.</span></p>
<p class="s7" style="margin-top:0px; margin-bottom:8px"><span class="s13">In addition to his academic career, Clark has worked as a speechwriter and political advisor. He is also a certified poet.</span></p>
<p class="s7" style="margin-top:0px; margin-bottom:8px"><span class="s13">This launch will be the culmination of a SCATA postgraduate conference on Communication Studies. </span><span class="s13">Staff and student researchers across a range of communication
and media studies can meet up with one another, </span><span class="s13">participate</span><span class="s13"> in discussions about key issues </span><span class="s13">in social media </span><span class="s13">practice in this field, and hear</span><span class="s13">presentations
by</span><span class="s13"> leading communication researchers.</span></p>
