<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:black">Allen Feldman is an associate professor of the Department of Media, Culture and Communication and the visual culture program at <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_University" target="_blank" title="New York University"><span style="color:black;text-decoration:none">New
York University</span></a>. His research and teaching interests include visual culture and violence, the political anthropology of embodiment and the senses, performance studies, and the philosophy of media.
</span>Allen Feldman has conducted ethnographic fieldwork in Northern Ireland on political terror, South Africa on transitional-restorative justice, and he<span style="color:black"> has conducted policy related action research on the policing of the unhoused
affected and infected by HIV/AIDS in NYC. He is the author of three books: <i>The Northern Fiddle</i>r, (Blackstaff Press, 1980) an ethnomusicology and visual ethnography of Irish performance practice, <i>Formations of Violence: The Narrative of the Body
and Political Terror in Northern Ireland (</i><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_Chicago_Press" target="_blank" title="University of Chicago Press"><span style="color:black;text-decoration:none">University of Chicago Press</span></a> 1991)
the first ethnography that engaged political violence from the perspective of embodiment and
<i>Archives of the Insensible: On Aisthesis, War and Dead Memory</i> that explores the visual culture of political sovereignty in the war on terror, transitional justice and political animality (Duke University Press forth coming).
