Drawing upon extensive field work (including over 100 interviews) and historical analysis, the paper seeks to outline some of the key issues arising from the research.</span></p><p style="line-height: 17px; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 1.35em; margin-left: 0px; "><span style="line-height: 19px; font-size: 11pt; ">The project will result in a three volume history (to be published by Ashgate) and I will present both my own areas of interest and key findings from the other three members of the research team. His research focuses on the politics of Popular Music - an area in which he has a number of publications - and in issues concerning censorship and freedom of expression. Martin is the author of a number of books including: Dark Side of the Tune: Popular Music and Violence (with Bruce Johnson) (2008, Ashgate), Popular Music and the State in the UK (2007, Ashgate), Banned! He has been at Macquarie University since 2000 and currently teaches units in guitar and audio engineering.
