RECLAIMING THE FUTURE: INDIGENOUS POWER IN A PROGRAMMED WORLD
Special Issue of Somatechnics: Journal of Bodies - Technologies - Power<https://www.euppublishing.com/journal/soma>
Guest edited by Distinguished Professor Bronwyn Carlson and Dr. Tamika Worrell
We seek contributions that interrogate the somatechnical dimensions of AI and algorithmic systems as they relate to Indigenous bodies, lands, and lifeways. We are particularly interested in work that refuses extractive logics and instead reimagines AI through relationality, sovereignty, kinship, and survivance.
Topics may include:
*
Embodied AI
*
Biometric Surveillance
*
Storytelling and machine learning
*
Digital refusal
*
Cost to Country
*
AI Companions & Relationships
*
Speculative Indigenous Technofutures
*
The Affective Politics of Automation
Abstract submission, September 1st, see attached for submission details.

I acknowledge the sovereignty of Wiradyuri, Ngunawal, Gundungurra and Birpai peoples
of Australia who are the traditional owners and custodians of the lands on which CSU’s campuses are situated. I pay my respects to all First Nations Elders and I honour them for maintaining the cultural and intellectual foundations that ensure these traditions continue in perpetuity.
