Dear CSAA members and friends,
It’s been a while since I’ve been in touch, but I wanted to share a couple of bits of CSAA news with you.
CSAA2025 call for papers //
The first thing is to follow up on the posters and information you might have seen for the CSAA 2025 conference, Melbourne, 26-28 November.<https://csaa.asn.au/csaa-conference-2025/> This year, some of us in the CSAA Executive – Holly Randell-Moon, Gilbert Caluya, Andrew Hutcheon and myself – have taken on the task of organising the conference. This means the conference has no institutional funding or support. To make it happen, the conference will be held as part of the Congress of HASS, which will be on the University of Melbourne campus.
The theme for CSAA2025, ‘So hot right now: Cultures in Rising Temperatures’, is designed to reflect the rising temperatures and increased forms of friction and intensity that are shaping so many aspects of our lives.
I have attached the cfp to the bottom of this email, but you can also find it on the CSAA website here<https://csaa.asn.au/csaa-conference-2025/>. Please share it far and wide!
CSAA website //
The second thing to note is the launch of the renewed CSAA website<https://csaa.asn.au/> and CSAA logo, which were launched last year at CSAA2024 at the Centre for Global Indigenous Futures, Macquarie University. It was wonderful to be able to close the conference with the launch of this big piece of work by the CSAA Executive. Special thanks must be given to Andrew Hutcheon (CSAA Social Media & Website Office), whose expertise and work was invaluable, and Alex Norman of Fair Shake Design<https://fairshakedesign.co/>, who was so great to work with and so patient with us.
The website has the capacity to grow and add new pages, but it’s been really great to refresh the CSAA website and logo.
Online seminar series//
The final thing is to let you know to keep an eye out for the CSAA online seminar series, which will continue in 2025. This series is being convened by the CSAA Membership Officer, Whitney Monaghan. We will be in touch with more information when the first seminar is organised with a date locked in. If you would like to propose a panel for this series, please get in touch with Whitney, whitney.monaghan at monash.edu.
Warm wishes, and I’m looking forward to reading your CSAA2025 abstracts,
Rebecca
