Cultural Studies Association of Australasia Statement on Recent Parliamentary Investigation into ARC Grants
The Cultural Studies Association of Australasia supports the independence of the ARC and opposes political or other interference in the awarding of grants and once grants have already been awarded.
The CSAA welcomed the Education Minister Jason Clare’s strengthening of the ARC’s independence in the removal of ministerial veto in 2024. This was supported by a number of universities and peak academic associations.
The CSAA reaffirms its support of the peer-review and expert-led independence of the ARC and trusts these principles and policies will be upheld in the investigation of Dr Randa Abdel-Fattah’s receipt of ARC funding.
