Abstract

This talk discusses the ways in which competition law and regulation intersect in internet governance, and considers the challenges and opportunities that arise from their concurrent application in Internet platform markets. It exemplifies this with recourse to various novel regulatory developments that have been taken by different, mostly European countries and at the European level, and discusses the potential future directions of internet governance in a rapidly changing technological and policy landscape.



Short bio

Natascha Just is a Professor of Communication and Chair of the Media and Internet Governance Division at the Department of Communication and Media Research of the University of Zurich, Switzerland. She is currently a visiting professor at the discipline of Media and Communications of the University of Sydney (https://www.sydney.edu.au/arts/about/our-people/academic-staff/natascha-just.html). Her current research centers on media policy and Internet governance, among other things, on market power control, changing governance structures, algorithms on the Internet, and social-media regulation.
