Good afternoon everybody,

I hope you are all well and safe in these unusual and trying times.

This is a general call for expressions of interest for books in the 33 1/3 Oceania series published by Bloomsbury. These are books of around 30,000 words on a specific popular music album. Oceania has a broad regional definition including not only Australia and Aotearoa/New Zealand but also Papua and the islands of the Pacific. All expressions of interest will be considered and especial attention will be given to enquires about books on albums by members of subaltern groups, again a term used here with a broad definition.

At present the series has three books in press, due to be published mid-2022, and a significant number under contract. The series has a webpage on the Bloomsbury site at https://www.bloomsbury.com/au/series/33-13-oceania/ .

This series is a great opportunity to expand the critical work on popular music from the region and to bring to people’s attention important albums that might otherwise be forgotten.

Should you be interested in writing a book for the series, please contact Jon Stratton on jon_stratton22 at outlook.com.au<mailto:jon_stratton22 at outlook.com.au> or on my UniSA address Jon.stratton at unisa.edu.au or, if you are interested in writing on an album released by an artist from Aotearoa/New Zealand, Jon Dale on jonathon.dale at gmail.com<mailto:jonathon.dale at gmail.com> .
