Host future IAMCR conferences
The International Association for Media and Communication Research
(IAMCR) calls for candidacies from institutions interested in hosting a
future IAMCR annual conference. IAMCR conferences are major
opportunities for universities, regional academic associations, research
institutes and policy centres, to showcase their know-how and promote
their activities, while fostering energy and creativity around a large
international project. IAMCR welcomes proposals from institutions or
consortiums.
Hosting arrangements are embodied in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)
between IAMCR and the conference host, and the event itself is organised
by a Local Organizing Committee (LOC), with members named by the host
university or consortium, and coordinated by the Conference Organizing
Committee (COC) consisting of IAMCR and LOC representatives. Future
IAMCR conferences will be hybrid, with both an on-site component, and an
online one.
The first step for interested institutions is to submit an Expression of
Interest (EoI) to the IAMCR Executive Secretariat and Executive Board.
The EoI (2-5 pages) should include the following:
+ A presentation of the proposed host institution(s).
+ A rationale and proposed year(s) for hosting the IAMCR conference.
+ A summary description of the proposed conference theme.
+ A presentation of the proposed venue and its suitability for hosting
an IAMCR conference.
+ Identification of the (a) key individuals behind the proposal, and of
(b) the universities and other institutions supporting it.
The Executive Board may request further information from candidates, but
if the EoI is accepted, the institution or consortium will be asked to
prepare a full proposal.
More detailed guidelines for submitting an EoI are available upon
request. Please send your EoI or your request for more information to
IAMCR’s Executive Director, Bruce Girard (bgirard at iamcr.org) and
General-Secretary, Gerard Goggin (gerard.goggin at ntu.edu.sg).
