Dear CSAA members,

 

Our new program "Varieties of Science Narrative" will have several fully
funded doctoral research fellowships available for students in sociology,
cultural studies, STS, media and communication studies, Asian studies, and
related fields.

Students interested in an international perspective on science in society
are invited to apply three-year research fellowship in the
interdisciplinary project "Narrating Science as a World-Making Activity,"
which examines the roles of different kinds of narratives (fictional and
factual, in various forms and media) about climate change in the political
and policy-making spheres, with a focus on Southeast Asia.  

 

Applicants should have a Master's or equivalent experience in a related
field. The project, "Narrating Science as a World-Making Activity: Sea
Level Change in Singapore," is part of a joint research program of the
Development and Knowledge Sociology

Leibniz Centre for Tropical Marine Research and the University of Bremen in
northern Germany. The Ph.D. is awarded by these institutions, and the
student will be based in Bremen, Germany, but do several months of field
research in Singapore. The project language is English (knowledge of
Singaporean Chinese, Tamil, or Malay would be a welcome asset, but is not
required).
