Presented by CSRH and
the Practical Justice Initiative

Imagining justice in health service access for women in relationships with bisexual men
This presentation will explore the intersections between sexuality, gender and justice for Australian women who have been or are currently in a relationship with a bisexual man, with a particular focus on issues they currently face in accessing health services. Maria will discuss interview research with of a group of culturally, sexually and geographically diverse women in monogamous, open, and polyamorous relationships with bisexual-identifying and/or bisexual-behaving men. Health issues they had experienced included sexually transmissible infections, including HIV, and a range of mental and emotional health issues. Maria will examine their experiences of discrimination and exclusion when seeking access to a range of health settings and services, and review womens’ recommendations for addressing institutional misrepresentations and erasure.
