/Gender, Sexualities and Culture in Asia/ provides a new forum for
monographs and anthologies focusing on the intersections between gender,
sexuality and culture across Asia, from Jordan to Japan and all points
between. The series provides a distinctive space for the exploration of
topics ranging from non-normative cultures of sexuality in Asia as well
as studies of more conventional forms of gendered and sexual identities
and practices across the region. The series will expand the field of
Asian genders and sexualities by applying a cultural or sociocultural
lens to current debates, including those on rural lives, migration,
religion, transgender identities, media representations, sex industry,
violence and family relationships. We welcome original proposals on any
aspect of gender and sexuality in Asia, or among Asian diasporas, which
advance understanding of the gendered dynamics of Asian societies and
cultures.
The series calls for a rethinking of Asia that is expansive, not only in
terms of geographical location (including East, South and West Asia) but
is also mindful of diaspora and migration flows. We recognize that
reading across Asian sites is an increasing necessity in addressing the
diversity of gender relations and sexualities in a complex, globally
interconnected world.
