CALL FOR PAPERS
Convergence and Emergence
UTS Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Annual Higher Degree Research Student Conference
Friday 25 November and Saturday 26 November, 2016.
Dr Chau Chak Wing Building,
University of Technology, Sydney

Dear all,

We are pleased to invite UTS FASS Higher Degree by Research students and postgraduate students from universities across NSW and Canberra to attend the 2016 FASS HDR Conference: Convergence and Emergence.

The annual conference will be hosted in the Frank Gehry designed Dr Chau Chak Wing Building (CB08) from Friday 25 November to Saturday 26 November, 2016.

In 2016, we invite you to respond to the theme of Convergence and Emergence in one of the following four streams:

Scholarly stream (academic paper presentation);
Creative stream (written, or visual creative work presentation — this should be related to your research         degree i.e. the creative component of non traditional PhDs, or DCAs and MCAs);
Poster presentation (posters of max A1 size will be shown during the conference);
Panel session (an opportunity for you to organise your own panel of three to four presenters on a particular theme or topic).

Your presentation might address the convergence of issues, disciplines, fields or methods, or the emergence of new topics and theories in your research.

Attendees should read the CFP broadly and not feel constrained by the overarching conference theme.

Alongside these presentations, a series of workshops will be facilitated to reflect the importance of interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research in the academy, the process of scholarly emergence that occurs across the HDR journey, as well as workshops pertaining to HDR career prospects (in and outside of the academy).

We welcome attendees from diverse research backgrounds, whether interested in presenting their own work, or who simply want to come along to meet fellow scholars.

Please submit a 250 word abstract, and a short bio (50 words max) by Friday, September 2, 2016 11:59PM by copying this URL into your browser: http://bit.ly/2a8silE

The FASS HDR Conference team will review the abstracts and be in touch shortly after.

Note on panel submissions: if proposing a panel, each panel member will need to submit their abstract individually via the registration form. Please make a note that you are submitting as part of a panel during registration.
Registration and attendance is free for all students, academics, and audience members.
